Nancy Phelps, a native of California, was raised in the small community of Lafayette. Running and playing in the open fields and lanes as a child allowed her imagination to run free. Never coloring within the lines established her way with life as she always pushed her limits and boundaries, leading to her first art classes where she achieved much recognition for her prized artworks. She never wanted to be anything but an artist. More »

After raising her family, Nancy earned a degree from Orange Coast College, and continued her passion with art classes along the way with many noted teachers, including receiving her Associate degree in interior design through UCSB. She has become a recognized watercolorist through these many years and more recently has devoted much time to oil paintings. Her works have been highly published as fine art prints and note cards, currently publishing cards with “It Takes Two”, and self publishing her works as giclee prints.
Nancy looks for that special moment in the day or scenery that evokes memories or emotions that will touch the viewer. She is known for her paintings of children and ladies, but today her work focuses more on the presentation the vineyards and grasslands of the Central Coast, or colorful garden bouquets, her works are always timeless. Whether working in oils or watercolors, her paintings reflect soft, fresh and gentle brushstrokes that shine with jewel like intensity.
A popular local artist, Nancy has participated in many murals for the community of Lompoc, CA, where she currently resides. She has been identified as Lompoc Valley Art Association “Best of the Best” people’s choice at two events in recent years.
