His subject matter consists of landscapes and seascapes, with the California
central coast being his favorite subject matter. Seascapes seem to be his forte;
as is apparent in his depictions of the gorgeous coastal range of Santa Barbara
and Big Sur, the dunes of Pismo Beach and Morro Bay, and the bay at Carmel.
With oil he captures the light, movement, and the ever-changing
moods of the sea. It is a task that this artist has pursued with satisfaction
and joy for
many years.
Clyde’s honors include four one-man shows, and several two-man
shows and many group showings. In the U.S. National Parks annual competition, “The
Arts For The Parks Show” he received top 100 artist honors for the years
1995,1999, and 2001. In the same competition for the year 1995 he also received
a “Judges Favorite Award”. He is also an associate member of the
Oil Painters of America.
Judith Hale Gallery honors the memory of gallery artist Clyde Owes who
passed away on August 19th, 2004.
