A. Heichberger
R.
A. Heichberger elegantly portrays the serenity of the American landscape.
With the precision of fine line, Richard evokes softness in texture,
creating a subtle unveiling of America's mountains, plains and grasslands.

Born in 1945 in southwestern New York State, Richard’s adventurous youth
was spent in a rural truck and dairy farming community. His genuine love of the
land developed as he hunted, fished, trapped and worked the family farm.
After
graduating high school, Heichberger enrolled in the Art Institute of
Pittsburgh for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corp. After
4 years of active
duty, including a tour in Vietnam he enrolled in Santa Ana Community College
in pursuit of a wildlife management degree. During his college years Richard
started selling his paintings in order to support himself.
In
1974 Heichberger married and pursued his art career in earnest. Shortly
after the birth of his daughter Heather, he relocated to the San Bernardino
Mountain
resort community of Big Bear Lake, California.
For
the next 17 years Richard enjoyed gallery painting, along with a teaching
career at San Bernardino Valley College Extension. It was during this period
he began painting backgrounds for animation studios such as Disney, Kroyer
Pictures, Baer Animation, Hannah Barbara, Warner Bros., and others.
In
1995 Heichberger moved to Scottsdale, AZ where he spent 5 years working
for Fox Animation Studios. Richard now paints for galleries and shows fulltime.
When
not in the studio he enjoys painting Plein-Aire, fly-fishing, bird hunting,
mountain biking, and photography. Always connected to beauty of the land,
Richard reflects
his love of the outdoors in each new painting he creates.
