Mark Greenaway
Mark Greenaway was born in San Luis Obispo and raised in
Atascadero. This third generation of Scottish immigrants has always had
an affinity to the outdoors, including sports, fishing, and wildlife.
As a youth he spent numerous hours with his camera studying animals in
their natural habitat. "I loved to discover their unique personalities,
fur textures or feathering, and how they survived in their own environment." That
led to some art courses in both high school and college, followed by
more intense study with Chester Amyx and Richard Yaco. He began to seriously
pursue his talent at Cal Lutheran and privately with Robert Reynolds
and Robert Clark, two well-known San Luis Obispo County artists. More »

His earlier works particularly favored
Native Americans, wild fowl and birds of prey. Though most of his work
is two dimensional,
he has produced over fifty sculptures including the life size pieces "Blue
Ribbon Dream" for the California Mid-State Fair, and "Seasons
Come, Seasons Go" for the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History. In
addition to oil and pastel he is branching out into watercolor, a medium
that‚s spontaneity has always fascinated him.
Mark currently shows with Judith Hale Gallery in Los Olivos,
and for the past ten years has been painting for Baptist Bible Graphics,
completing over 130 illustrations of the Bible. He resides in Atascadero
with his wife, Andrea, and their children Katie and David.
