Integrating nature more fully into his work, Castellano’s kinetic sculptures
move with the whimsy of the wind and his water sculptures flow tranquilly, a
peaceful complement to any environment. The wonder and joy this work inspires
has resulted in his pieces finding homes in gardens throughout both the United
States and Europe.
His artistic muses are intricately woven into his culinary
career, which includes working and living in Italy as the personal chef
to the United States Ambassador
to the Vatican. Castellano has worked and traveled extensively in Europe. The
absorption of the artwork, culture and history he experienced during this period
not only shows in the integrity of his work, it is the root of his transition
into becoming a sculptor.
Castellano’s artistic inspirations include the great Italian Renaissance
masters. His direct influences come from the modern work of : Alexander Calder,
David Smith, Henry Matisse and Pablo Piccaso He continues to study new approaches
to his work .He finds himself drawn to the natural influences of the vegetation
of Southern California.
In 1998, Castellano unveiled his metal work to the public
for the first time at the Silvermine Artist’s Guild in Silvermine, Connecticut, where he also
studied under renowned sculptor David Boyajian for three years.
Castellano’s work received recognition and acclaim upon its’ debut
in Southern California in the spring of 2001. He was awarded the Blue Ribbon
in Beverly Hills, at the prestigious “Affaire in the Garden” show,
first place in the sculpture category. He continues to live in Agoura Hills where
he is presently working on commercial and residential Sculptures as well as preparing
for upcoming gallery exhibitions.
